One of my first jobs when we moved to Baltimore in 2004 was teaching printmaking and papermaking classes at School 33 Art Center in Federal Hill. School 33 is a wonderful place. They have a multi-use teaching facility, 2 Galleries, artist studios and host countless events for the public. They're funded partially by Baltimore's Office of Promotion and the Arts (in fact, they are run by BOPA itself), but they also rely heavily on public donations to run the space. Each year they hold a massive art lottery auction, in which at a fancy gala at Silo Point, ticket holders are each given a lottery number, and allowed to choose one piece of art (donated by artists- myself included) in the order of their ticket numbers.
Everyone gets to take home SOMETHING, so long as they've purchased a ticket to the event, and there are free alcohol and heavy snacks to boot.
If you'd like to go to the event, and have a chance to take home my painting (seen above) or some work of another Baltimore Artist, visit BOPA's Lotta Art website HERE.
If you purchase your ticket before April 6th, you get $25 off. (Tickets are $175/$150 before 4/6/12).
Hope you'll consider helping us fund this great Baltimore landmark!
