Tablet

Want to know what that is, up there? That is the first thing I've ever drawn on a tablet! Happy 2013! Right!?
Unless you know me, it might surprise you to learn that until this morning, I was in fact, a tablet virgin.
(If you do know me, you know that I'm generally 10 steps behind everyone else, and that 2013 is about right, since everyone else involved in designing ANYTHING has owned a Wacom since the turn of the century). I'm not sure how it happened, or how it got this far away from me... it's not that I didn't know tablets existed. More-so that I don't like learning new things. Especially if the new things involve a computer, or Phil having to talk to me like a 1st grader to get information through my thick skull (both describe this morning's scenario). In any case, I've seen computer illustration recently that's blown me away, and since I didn't understand how computer illustration suddenly got beautiful while I wasn't looking- I naturally assumed it was because I'm no longer an artist. So I just sort of hid and drew with india ink as best I could, then scanned those drawings, then attempted to clean them up in photoshop, then rendered them into computer illustrations live tracing them in illustrator... taking 3 days to do what I just learned I could have done all on the computer in 5 seconds, and spent the rest of the time eating snacks, napping, or thinking about how "with the times" I really am.
Don't get me wrong, I'll go on about DIY and handmade all day long... I love the handmade. Love it. But after testing this thing out for 5 minutes, my mind is blown, I realize I really didn't know what I was missing out on, and I feel like a complete moron! But you probably know that, and are rolling your eyes at this completely uninformative blogpost which just said the equivalent of "holy $#*T. Do you lumberjack guys know about CHAINSAWS? Put down the handsaw, fellers and come hither, to the 21st century!!"
I feel quite drunk on life with the excitement of finding this new tool. Oh, and also, I feel old.
