Renegade Photo Recap
Although this weekend's Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn was one of the best shows we've had yet... and was sunny and HOT most of the weekend... what we're sure to remember... possibly send down in history as (hopefully) the most frightening thing we've had to handle at a craft fair... were the 2 hours of terrifying rain, lightening and thunder surrounding us on Saturday afternoon as we stood ankle deep in water at McCarren Park pool just yards from an enormous tower of metal scaffolding, watching other people's crafts, trash and belongings sail through our tent. We salute with the highest regard, the following people:
-all our friends that sell papergoods, who had the worst damage and loss, yet still managed to pull themselves together and set up again on Sunday. Nate, Jen, Jacqueline & George, Paul & Valerie, and Katie... you are all troopers and deserve big (waterproof) awards.
-all of the customers that braved that storm and hung out in our tent for an hour.
-those who lost their tents (some because they collapsed.... some because really... they flew away and are nowhere to be found... or at least that was the rumor).
-Our tent, which managed to be a true soldier, and stay up where others fell. Even though you are a cheap, crappy, leaky tent... you did not break. and we loved you for that.
-the craft community in general. It was a terrible storm, but I like how the sense of community that I equate with these fairs, and this whole way of life really shone through this weekend. People helped each other, and that's a beautiful thing.
Next up, in order, are: Pile Of Craft, Crafty Bastards, Our Wedding, Artscape & The Sondhiem Semi-finalist show.
